Gairnsheil road - again

I wasnt clear what that meant so eventually found this --

"The A939 will be closed from September 5, to October 10 at the north side of the old bridge to allow for road realignment, leaving residents and visitors with a 30-minute diversion.".

-that explains why there were loads of signs on the A939 saying Road Closed, when i came down it on Fri. 2nd Sept !!

and here was me thinking all would be well in early 2023.

looks like it might be open for the run to Barrow campsite --- but only just ?!

Anybody know the Gairnsheil Bridge upgrade position ?

Try as i might i can't find any update

had a run up to Ballater today and answered my own question - to some extent.

Gairnsheil bridge shut according to signs at Crathie and Ballater.

came the lecht route back from Barrow yesterday.

The new bridge is far from finished but the old bridge was open and roads to Crathie or Ballater open.

The Crathie route was baltic !

I emailed the cooncil yesterday to ask if there is a revised completion date and are any closures intended before that.

i got the usual courteous reply, frim the cooncil, with a "case number" but no actual information !

and the update is --- very non comittal ???!!!!

have spoken to the Bridges team who are in charge of the works here and they have advised me that everything should be completed with the new bridge in the next 2 months but they do not have an exact date as yet."
