Gigha
« on: April 08, 2019, 19:20:27 PM »
Dougie K and me set off this morning to head down to Tayinloan to catch the ferry to Gigha for a wee look.
Seven miles long, not very wide and fundamentally a road from one end to the other.
What could go wrong !
Timetable checked: leaves on the hour, takes 20mins and returns on the half hour.
Decided to go the Arrochar route west.
Rest and be Thankfull has got significant works ongoing and lots of lights. (,Looks like they have a solution to the landslips).
Anyway down to Tayinloan and round to the Calmac slipway by about 12.30 -- good time for the 13.00 ferry..
Big red lit up Sailings notice shows next sailing 14.00.
That was that.
Back up to Tarbert and made Tea and Sausages on the beach !
Gigha will have to wait for another day !

Good run though on a cracking day.
Moral --- double check timetables !

Thanks for the tip off about the roadworks across to Arrochar, Iíll be up that way this weekend on the TDM.

Tea and snags on the beach sounds like a great idea though, Iíll have to take some kit with me  ;D

To add to the traffic they were moving a wide load with multiple escorts  --- there always seem to be big loads on that road these days.
